Loopcase is a family enterprise run by Gwilym Griffith-Jones, Merle Schluter and Maja Sea. Having a family seems like an opportunity to get some mooted design projects up and running. All Loopcases are handmade in our small home workshop in Wanaka, New Zealand.

I have been designing things from fabric for over 20 years, sewing for me is a bit like welding - a great way to quickly realise ideas. Loopcase for me is the continuation of 20 years of playing with simpler, possible better ways to make things.

My first company Cactus Climbing Equipment is a leading New Zealand manufacturer of outdoor equipment. I am still involved with the company but live 6 hours away in Wanaka, making day to day input into Cactus impossible.

As well as this sort of thing I design websites, help out with new projects at the local recycling centre and occasionally do avalanche control work at Treble Cone.
